Lifehacker. 88 tech tricks to turbo-charge your day. Gina Trapini. 2007. ISBN 10-0470050659. Something for everyone i.e. Mac, Linux or Windows by everybody’s favorite Lifehacker. This is a selection of some of the “best” from Gina’s very popular blog, www.lifehacker.com.. More about the book at http://lifehackerbook.com. I found many very useful “hacks” that I could apply immediately to have a better running home office. Gina is also authoring the “better Gmail” greasemonkey scripts which extends Gmail into a Getting Things Done (GTD) tool. If you have not looked at Lifehacker do so, its on my daily “must read” RSS list. This is a very useful book.

Duct Tape Marketing. The World’s Most Practical Small Business Marketing Guide. John Jantsch

Duct Tape Marketing. The World’s Most Practical Small Business Marketing Guide. John Jantsch. 2007. ISBN 9780785221005. “Nothing sticks like duct tape” is the signature intro to John Jantsch’s very useful marketing pod-casts. This book is the logical outcome of all the material on his site . A very good guide for all of us, not just the small businessman as it builds from the basics done well. His plan starts with the core marketing goals for the year and then says, “spend as little as you need to achieve these goals”, rather than saying spend more or less than XX. All his material built from a description of your ideal client . This approach is very well aligned with the Rocket Builders Precision Sales and Marketing process. If you are in small company or mentoring some, this will be a very useful book to read and heed. Well presented, logical and an easy read. Definite library keeper. Forward by Michael Gerber and afterward by Guy Kawasaki.

The 4-Hour Workweek. Escape 9-5,live anywhere, and join the new rich. Timothy Ferris

The 4-Hour Workweek. Escape 9-5, live anywhere, and join the new rich. Timothy Ferris. 2007. ISBN9780307353139. Comes with warning, Do not read this book unless you want to quit your job! On first reading this book , I realized that this 29 yr old had written up all my secrets and more! But it took me 40 yrs of working to find it out! Very enjoyable book and I recommend it to young and old, unless you are one of those bosses that expect employees to tattoo the Co. logo on their butt. (Those type of bosses breathe life into the ideas of Karl Marx!) Of course this book is another part of the author’s building up of a “non-working” lifestyle, but hey it is good and well researched advice. Of course very very few will take him up on it. I will say that having had to figure out much of this on my own (being quite a “bad” employee in my time) his models and methods do work and are quite risk free. My lesson learned was to get that unlocked quad band GSM phone from a US provider with no roaming fees. It really does free you up along with the Vonage VOIP adapter which takes your office no. free anywhere in the world.http://www.4hourworkweek.com/index.htm   has lots of resources.
